Best free web development courses on YouTube

You can learn to build websites entirely from free YouTube courses: HTML and CSS first, then JavaScript, then a framework or a back end. The difficulty isn't finding a course, it's choosing one and coding along all the way to the end. Below are the web development courses students are studying on Studyio right now, most studied first, each with chapters, notes, a quiz after every chapter and a certificate.

The courses

  1. Learn HTML in 1 hour 🌎Bro Code · 3 chapters · 1h
  2. Flask Tutorial 2026 | Complete Flask Course for BeginnersMohit Decodes · 52 chapters · 9.6h
  3. Flask TutorialsTech With Tim · 11 chapters · 2.4h
  4. We Challenged 10 Engineers to Fix India’s Government WebsitesVarun Mayya · 2 chapters · 46 min

A sensible order

  1. HTML: the structure of a page. A short course is enough to start.
  2. CSS: layout, spacing, colour and making pages work on phones.
  3. JavaScript: making pages respond to the user. Take this one slowly; everything after it builds on it.
  4. A framework or a back end: React for interfaces, or a server framework such as Flask (Python) or Express (Node.js) to store data and handle accounts.
  5. Put something online: one small, finished project teaches more than three half-watched courses.

How to get through a web course

  • Code along in your own editor. Pause the video, type it, and check it works before moving on.
  • Keep the snippets you'll reuse in your notes with a timestamp (press T on Studyio), so you can find the explanation again when you need it in a project.
  • Answer the quiz after each chapter; if you miss one, the answer links back to the moment in the video that explains it.
  • Change the example a little after each chapter: a colour, a layout, a new button. Small experiments are where it sticks.
